And it is also happening in Moscow! (Aug 14 - 15)

Admitted, the Kremlin, the Red Square and especially Lenin's mausoleum (they conserved the man pretty well) are impressive as are the enormous buildings and tons of pretty churches with onion shaped goldplated chapels.

However, Moscow turns out to be a shoppers' paradise at the same time - you'll find the big expensive brands on ever corner!

Although the crowd is not as hip and trendy as in St Petersburg, the Ginza project worked for Moscow as well resulting in many fun and good restaurants, such as Vasante cafe, Le Balkon (hard to find, you may end up in Hardrock Cafe first...) and last but not least fashion designer, Denis Simachev's edgy fashion cafe which is surrounded by the Chanel, Burberry, Louboutin and Dior stores....too bad backpacks are so small....

There could no bigger contrast between the NYC subway stations and those of Moscow as Stalin decided to pimp them with gold, chandeliers, mosaics and bronzen statues (you have to rub them for luck...funny sight if you watch hundreds off commuters touching Lenin's pistol ;-)

The weather turned out to be bloody hot, much different from St Pete's! No complaints, but can they please abandon the rule that does not allow you to wear shorts, tanktops, flipflops or anything else that does not fully cover the body when entering the city's highlights at least during the summer months...

The Transsiberian is leaving soon...need to stock up on food, drinks (vodka!!) and toilet paper. Russian city life is good but much looking forward to the famous trainride and the Russian countryside!

Btw for the yankee supporters amongst you: Jeter matrouskas, you know the little wooden dolls with even more little dolls inside, are widely available. Don't worry Madonna, Marilyn or Obama fans, they made some look-a-likes for you as well.
