Cocktail time!

Taken out for drinks by an expert & came across some great cocktail bars in Shanghai! Try 'm if you like (come to Shanghai first..)!

Century 100 Avenue lounge

Chinese take on "Lost in translation", great views from the 93th floor of the Park Hyatt, free champagne until 11pm for the ladies, great DJ.

Drink: champagne

The Alchemist

Shanghai's first molecular gastronomy cocktail bar, try the popcorn pig brain with jalapeno-gribiche emulsion...

Drink: Cortez Sun (Corralejo Silver tequila, Aperol, roast bell pepper, essence of clove, wheat and mandarin skin foam) or, bit more ordinary, jalapeno margarita...yum.

El Coctel

Favorite, if only for their napkins and ceiling...

The menu is split into the six cocktail families: 1. Fizzes, Sours, Silvers, and Sidecars; 2. Mules, Margaritas, Daiquiris, and Revivers; 3. Martinis, stirred, shaken, white, dark, wet, and dry; 4. Muddled Citrus, Bruised Herbs, New & Old Fashioned; 5. Sweet: Sugar, Fruit & Cream; and 6. Digestif Coctel, Hot or Cold.....lots to try!

Drink: Efficient Ramos gin fizz (Gin, lime juice, sugar & egg white, with a drop of orange flower water. Aerated and shaken with orange bitters & a small spot of cream. Fizzed with seltzer)

Cheers!!
